Acne is very common during teenage years. Teenagers’ experiencing the pains of acne finds it very difficult to face the social impacts which are as follows; shame, depression and self pity. Parents who have teenagers facing this problem could be of great help to them. What you could do:
Always remind your child that it is temporary not permanent. Words of encouragement and advice should be given to the victim because the person will see himself or herself so low because of the way people and criticism pinches him or her.
Explain to your child the importance of moving on in life, despite the negative reactions from other people.
Take your child to a qualified doctor or dermatologist for treatment. Do not wait for the acne problem to worsen before taking your child to hospital for treatment; the earlier the better.
Help your child to remember the instructions given by the doctor and also guide your child on the right things to do so as not to worsen the problem.
Have a host of self confidence of your child. Always have self confidence of your child especially when mocks and teases arise, boast of what your child has inside, tell your child how wonderful that he is talented.
Be generous to your child with praises, but do not flatter.
